Combining exceptional comfort and an exclusive, high visibility DuPont Kevlar Stretch Armor liner, new HyFlex 11-515 gloves offer ANSI Level 4 Cut Protec- tion and a high visibility appearance to keep workers' hands safe in low light situations, says the manufac- turer. An orange foam nitrile-coated palm provides ANSI Level 4 abrasion resistance and ensures longer life, with new "safety yellow" Intercept Tech- nology yarn providing outstanding visibility and dexterity. The patented KVSD (Knitted Variable Stitch Design) releases tension in high stress areas to improve comfort and fi t. An extended cuff and enhanced cuff overedging supply additional cut protection and elasticity in the highly sensitive wrist area. The ergonomically designed gloves offer superior grip and tactil- ity in light oil or dry environments. Suggested applications include sharp, small-part handling, door and wood framing, glass installation, paper slit- ting, knife handling and maintenance operations in a range of industries, including aerospace and transporta- tion, automotive, metal fabrication, paper manufacturing, plastics/injec- tion molding and public utilities. The gloves are available in a wide range of sizes to accommodate more workers. www.ansellcanada.ca NANO-LOK EDGE Capital Safety has introduced the new Nano-Lok edge — a personal self- retracting lifeline (SRL) engineered for both foot-level tie-off and sharp edge applications. The Nano-Lok edge retracts its unused lifeline so workers can anchor at their feet and move freely and with confi dence at height. The Nano-Lok edge includes an ADVERTISERS' DIRECTORY COMPANY PAGE WEBSITE Acklands-Grainger Inc. 9 www.acklandsgrainger.com Brock University 17 www.brocku.ca/education/futurestudents/adulted CAPSC Safety Services Nova Scotia 21 www.safetyservicesns.ca Carswell 24 www.carswell.com Compass Health & Safety Ltd 26 www.compasshealthandsafety.com Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP 8 +1 416 868 7824 Honeywell Safety Products 13 www.honeywellsafety.com/culture Impacto Protective Products Inc. 7, 16 www.impacto.ca Justice Institute of BC 5 www.DriveBC.ca | www.ShiftIntoWinter.ca Kee Safety Ltd 17 www.KeeGuard.ca Mine Safety Appliances Company 2 www.MSASafety.com Mount Vernon Mills 23 www.mvmfr.com Occupational Safety Group 12 www.osg.ca True North Gear 19 www.dragonwear.com Westex 27 www.westex.com/fabricmatters Workrite Uniform Company 28 www.workrite.com/canada OHS PRODUCTS eight-foot (2.4 metre) working length, ergonomic design, and is available in single or twin 100 per cent tie-off units. It passes the most stringent leading edge standard set by ANSI Z359.14. Its tough lifeline material, patent pending energy absorber and durable harness connector work together to absorb and limit the arresting forces in the event of a fall, and to mitigate the effect of a sharp edge on the life- line even under harsh conditions. The Nano-Lok edge includes an integrated backpack style energy absorber, tough and fl exible galvanized cable lifeline, various hook options and an easy-to- install connector and it can be safely used in fall clearance environments as low as 16 feet (4.9 metres). www.capitalsafety.com. CONTROLLED DESCENT DEVICE DEUS Rescue, a provider of inno- vative rescue and safety solutions for individuals at height, designed the DEUS 3700 Controlled Descent Device for individual escape, assisted rescue and multi-person evacuation in a variety of industrial at-height work environments such as wind and telecommunications towers, oil and gas platforms, and scaffolding. For descents up to 180 metres, the DEUS 3700 is a lightweight, safe and easy- to-use system that operates hands-free (both "stop" and "go") with a speed control dial to easily regulate descent. The device features quadruple- redundant brakes and speed-limiting technology to guard against free fall. It operates in both directions, quickly allowing multiple workers to descend, one after another. Ropes may be replaced as needed, making it cost- effective and versatile. The device is third-party tested and certifi ed to CSA, ANSI, and EN standards for descents up to 180 metres. Like all life safety equipment, the DEUS 3700 requires regular training for its effective use. Because the 3700 is so simple to oper- ate, training retention is maximized. www.deusrescue.com. COUPLING CEJN has introduced eSafe, an inno- vative and patented safety coupling offering the highest fl ow combined with a low pressure drop. In addition, eSafe has a low connecting force and a compact and easy-to-grip design. It is a one-hand operated coupling, just pull the sleeve and the coupling will automatically vent before disconnect- ing. It is compact, high-fl ow and vents before disconnection, reducing noise, eliminating the risk of hose-whip and keeping the operator from harm. The job is done quicker using less energy and the result is higher productiv- ity, cheaper energy bills and lower environmental impact, according to the manufacturer. Tests have shown eSafe is extremely durable against impacts, vibrations and swiveling. It comes in a compact design with the dimensions of a standard coupling. eSafe is ergonomic and complies with the international standard ISO 4414. www.cejn.us TOOLS OF THE TRADE You can... conduct your own safety perception survey!
