An ultra-compact headlamp, the Swift RL Pro is bright and lightweight, offering 900 lumens and weighing only four ounces. "Work professionals can improve their safety and better see their work and surrounding hazards with hands-free lighting," says Steve Petty, Western sales manager for the company. "A headlamp not only frees up both hands for work but allows a worker to direct the light right where it's needed most… Reliable hands-free lighting is a must for today's workers." The lamp uses reactive lighting technology, which uses a sensor that analyzes ambient light and adjusts the headlamp brightness automatically, providing just the right amount of light for the job at hand. Additional features include red lighting, a five-level LED gauge to monitor the battery life and a USB port for recharging the lamp. The Swift RL Pro is compatible with all Petzl helmets, and mounting accessories allow the headlamp to be attached to any kind of helmet. All functions are controlled with a single button, which can be locked so the headlamp won't accidentally turn on when stored. CATERPILLAR , the world's largest construction and equipment manufacturer, is launching Cat Productivity, an easy-to-implement cloud- based application that provides its users with a complete overview of machine and jobsite production. The application is a data-rich tool that delivers consolidated and actionable site-level information. Cat Productivity will help its users analyze performance as well as improve productivity and increase profits. The new features of the product will help communicate and consolidate the user's performance metrics on a dashboard that provides rapid oversight of multiple jobs. The application offers a single, easy-to-read dashboard. Cat Productivity will be available mid-2020 and will help provide critical jobsite metrics, such as productivity, utilization and cost. Cat Productivity will also be able to provide key equipment performance data needed to optimize the potential of every asset. The application tracks and reports detailed information on what the machine is doing. The information is then accessible wherever the user is and can be accessed via web browsers on desktops or mobile devices. Its features include metrics such as truck identity, idle time, fuel burn, location, payload, load counts, total cycles, etc. The application offers in-depth analytics that aim to deliver a more sophisticated level of actionable insight to the user. Cat Productivity aims to improve machine efficiency, productivity and utilization. The latest version of the application has expanded and will now cover a broader range of new and previous-model Cat machines. Additionally, it can offer richer data sets when Cat machines are equipped with Cat Production Measurement or Truck Payload Measurement System. Furthermore, Cat Productivity can now be configured to capture and analyze data from mixed equipment fleets, allowing companies to have a clearer insight into overall jobsite production statistics. This insight could help improve the safety of on-site workers. Data-rich Expanded version In-depth Dentec announces new eyewear line Dentec Safety Specialists has introduced a new line of eye protection that considers comfort, fit, ergonomics, styling and pricing and value. "Our new line has been designed with the worker in mind right from the start," says president Claudio Dente. "Worker acceptance is key to a company's safety program." Other features include adjustable soft silicone rubber nose pieces, soft non-slip rubber temple arms, detachable foam collar and ratchet adjustable temples. Lenses and frames come in different colours. The line also offers metal alloy frames, adjustable locking temples, Rx insert lenses, foam goggle-like fit and closed-cell memory foam technology. The glasses meet the CSA standard and offer UV protection, anti-scratch protection and optional anti-fog protection. BCCA introducing 'cool or tool' app As part of its ongoing efforts to address bullying, hazing and harassment on British Columbia's construction worksites, the BC Construction Association (BCCA) has launched a new Builders Code Crew Training App to help construction workers recognize the difference between "cool or tool" behaviour on the worksite. The app shows animated construction tools in workplace scenarios that depict either model behaviour or actions that compromise safety and productivity. Workers are asked to identify the type of behaviour or actions in the scenario and are then provided with the correct response and a message that reinforces the appropriate action. The app tackles hazing, gender bias, abusive language, exclusion, non-consensual touching and patronizing behaviour.
