• receive an appropriate amount of time off • transition back into the workplace by initially being assigned to a less demanding job • have access to stigma-free counselling to address the emotional aspects of what you have experienced • participate in a debriefing session that focuses on helping workers put their experiences in perspective and validate what they have gone through • receive ongoing education on PTSD, stress management and actions you can take for self-care • participate in peer support activities that foster trust, reduce stigma and create open channels of communication • be screened for PTSD one month after the traumatic event.
