www.thesafetymag.com/ca 9 Cementex Arc Flash PPE lift-front hood CEMENTEX, a safety tool company, has announced the release of a new lift-front hood in its Ultralight Series of Arc Flash PPE. The lift-front hoods provide a larger viewing area through the updated clear gray colour shield, and they remain compatible with Cementex's hood ventilation system, for the safety of personnel in environments in and around energized equipment. The ventilation system helps to reduce the risk of dehydration, especially in hot weather conditions. The new lift-front face shield of this hood provides a larger viewing area through which users can see the energized equipment. By enhancing the area of view to see potential hazards and users' peripheral vision, the new lift-front hood design helps to minimize accidental contact with energized, hazardous conductors. The lift-front shield must remain latched safely while operators are within the hazardous area around energized equipment, but it can be lifted when safely away in order to facilitate breaks more easily. Cementex PPE hoods are unique within the Arc Flash Protective Equipment landscape, as the hood completely covers the hard hat. A headlight strap with an optional LED light provides the necessary illumination for safe work in poorly lit environments. All Cementex hoods are vent ready, allowing upgrades to include a ventilation system at a later time. ALLEGRO INTRODUCES RESPIRATOR FOR GREATER WORKER PROTECTION ALLEGRO Industries' new Allegro EZ AIR Flex Shield PAPR is a complete particulate system intended for a number of industrial applications. This includes activities such as grinding, where combined respiratory, eye and face protection is required. The EZ Air Flex Shield features a large viewing lens that maintains respiratory protection in many work environments. The Flex Shield Weighs less than three pounds in total, and the system features a motorized, lithium-ion battery operating system that supplies a constant supply of fresh, filtered air over the user's face. At an APF level of 25, it creates protective pressure inside the respirator head top, keeping away particulates (dust, steel, manganese, chromium, lead and others). Recommended applications include grinding as well as assembly, facility maintenance, machine operations, painting and sanding. Suggested industries include automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, general manufacturing and medical applications. The Allegro EZ Air Flex Shield PAPR system includes a shield made of DuPont tough, flame-retardant nylon that withstands cold and heat. The respirator is large enough to accommodate safety glasses and also features an adjustable and durable Pera-Lok ratcheting headgear with a replaceable soft sweatband. The product's additional features include: a full 100-per-cent-cotton fire-retardant neck shield to prevent arc burns; a flexible quick-disconnect breathing tube and FR cover; a blower assembly with eight air flow settings, audible, visual and vibration alarms; a convenient single replacement NIOSH-approved HEPA filter that filters 99.97 per cent particulates; an adjustable and lightweight FR belt; and a battery charger and lithium-ion rechargeable battery with up to eight hours usage. The EZ Air Flex Shield also comes with its own storage bag. HEMCO reveals new Canopy Hoods HEMCO's new Canopy Hoods are designed to collect and exhaust corrosive vapours, heat, steam and odours. They are available in 36-inch, 48-inch, 72-inch and 96-inch widths, in Wall or Island models. Canopy hoods are available in either molded chemical-resistant, flame-retardant one-piece composite resin or fabricated of welded type 304 stainless steel. Wall canopy hoods include a wall mounting kit. Island canopy hoods have an optional suspended mounting kit available. With any of the canopy hoods, vapour proof lights, switches and side and rear enclosure panels are offered to prevent cross drafts and further improve air flow while providing a way to contain chemical spills. Exhaust blowers, ducting and inline HEPA or carbon filters can be engineered to meet ventilation requirements. Dräger ingenious X-site Live Medical and safety technology company Dräger announced the release of the Dräger X-site Live, an area monitoring kit for gas and radiation hazard monitoring. The X-site Live offers both gas and radiation detection, as well as FirstNet integration, a nationwide wireless broadband network that provides priority and pre-emption for first responders and those who support them. "We worked in close collaboration with our customers to develop the X-site Live area monitoring solution," says John Wilson, Dräger's senior vice president of sales and marketing for safety solutions in North America. The multiple benefits and uses of the X-site Live provide applications across multiple areas, including fire services, venue protection, hazardous response and others. complete system large viewing lens tough shield
