Because workers can feed and offl oad it with a hand pallet truck, they don't waste time waiting for a forkli and trained operator to assist them. A powered foot switch allows smooth, hands-free adjustment of the platform to the most comfortable height as boxes are added or removed, reducing worker fatigue and injuries. e platform can be accessed from all four sides with no bending and minimal reach-over. A full-perimeter, auto-stop toe guard provides an added measure of safety. e Roll-In Level Loader has a 2,200 lb. capacity, lowered height of 3¼ inches, 31½ inch raised height, 48 x 53 inch platform. www.southworthproducts.com EIGHT TIMES SAFE Honeywell Safety Products' new North brand GX-8 series of safety eyewear has a semi-frameless style featuring sleek, nickel-free, brushed steel frames for a sophisticated look, and eight-base wraparound lenses for optimum cov- erage and protection. Available in fi ve lens tints and with optional Fog-Ban coating, the GX-8 delivers superior versatility to protect workers' eyes in nearly any application, the company said. e GX-8 series features spring- hinge temples, an adjustable padded nosepiece and non-slip temples to ensure secure, custom fi t and all-day comfort. Lens tint options include Clear, Amber, TSR Gray, Silver Mirror and Indoor/Outdoor Silver Mirror to protect in virtually any type of light- ing. e style's lenses feature hardcoat to resist scratches and prolong lens life. FlexTex is the newest line of fl ame resistant (FR) fabrics under the Mount Vernon FR brand. Developed for increased com- fort and movability, FlexTex fabrics include an elastomeric fi bre that allows fabric to fl ex up to 14 per cent with a 97 per cent recovery, Mount Vernon said. FlexTex adds mobility to fabric with no reduction in FR protection, so work- ers experience increased freedom and range of motion. Mount Vernon FR FlexTex fabrics have a bilateral fl ex that allows them to elongate sideways and diagonally, eliminating any sagging or bagging. FlexTex fabrics meet require- ments of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F1506, the company said. Mount Vernon FR's new amDry is a durable water repellent fi nish that can be applied to any Mount Vernon FR fabric to deliver protection to workers in water-intensive jobs and industries. Fabrics fi nished with amDry have a spray rating of 90/100. When combined with Mount Vernon FR fabrics' proven protection from the hazards of electric arc and fl ash fi re, amDry fi nishing means a third level of protection can be reached, the com- pany said. www.mvmfr.com ARC FLASH SAFETY VIDEO ERI Safety Videos has released a new arc fl ash DVD titled Electrical Arc Flash Safety Awareness. is 25-minute program is based on the standards for arc fl ash in Canada, according to Electrolab Training Systems, which off ers the training DVD. e dual hazards of electric shock and arc fl ash are clearly explained and highlighted in the video with dramatic arc fl ash footage, full-scale explosions and realistic reenactments of fl ammable clothing ignition due to arc fl ash inci- dents. Topics covered in this program include qualified electrical worker requirements, creating an electrically safe working condition, confi rming a zero energy state, energized electrical work permits, approach boundaries, incident energy level, arc fl ash bound- aries, hazard risk categories and how to properly dress for arc fl ash protection. www.electrolab.ca EXPLOSIVE GAS DETECTOR Oldham, an Industrial Scientific Company, has launched the second generation of its iTrans product — the iTrans 2 fi xed gas monitor for detect- ing explosive gases, toxic gases or oxygen. With CSA and NEPSI approv- als, the iTrans 2 is available for sale in the Americas and Asia-Pacifi c regions, Oldham said. e iTrans 2 employs an intelligent electronics platform to provide one or two points of detec- tion from a single head for maximum fl exibility, superior performance and lower installation costs. When in RS485 bus confi guration, one system is capable of accommodating more than 200 transmitters and can monitor any combination of gases for a specifi c environment. Other features and ben- efi ts of the iTrans 2 fi xed gas monitor include: non-intrusive calibration; Old- ham's industry-proven smart sensor technology and safety features, includ- ing automatic sensor recognition, zero and cal fault protection, and access code security; HART and MODBUS communication; new infrared sensing technology; programmable relays; and explosion-proof aluminum or stainless steel housings. www.oldhamgas.com
